MICHAEL GREEN
Sharp-Shooter Michael Green
The Ending Of A Spectacular High School Career
The Myrtle Beach Christian Academy fans cheered with desperate chants as Michael Green tried solely to will his team to a victory vs. Hilton Head in the SCISA Semi-Finals. Spectators, including myself, experience history, as Michael scored a blistering 29 points in the fourth quarter to set a new South Carolina High School record for most points scored by a player in the fourth quarter. Even Duke's superstar, South Carolina native, Zion Williamson never accomplished such feat. Myrtle Beach Christian feel short 71-66 to Hilton Head Prep.
Michael finished the game with 40 points. Green fell just shy of a astounding 2500 points in his high school career with 2495 points scored.
Michael: The Early Years
I remember when I would visit Michael's father, Mike Green, I would see little Michael dribbling the basketball in the driveway.
As a little boy he shot hundreds of shots everyday and worked on his ball handling skills.
When he played in the YMCA and Myrtle Beach Recreational leagues, the coaches had to limit his playing time. Why you might ask? Michael would score so many points that he was removed from the game to make the games more competitive. Needless to say, Michael dominated those youth leagues.
All kids who are motivated to be great in sports, should learn a lesson from little Mike. The lesson: that hard work and dedication pays off.
Michael: Junior High and High School Years
Michael Green attended Myrtle Beach Christian. Believe it or not, he started for the Saints high school basketball team when he was only in the 8th grade. Incredibly, he led the team in scoring when he was in the 8th grade, his freshman year, sophomore year, junior year, and senior year.
